The goal of the CEI BOOST – Boosting Circular Economy Innovation through emerging technologies application project is to increase the use of digital innovations to support the circular economy regionally in SMEs in the sectors of smart specialization. The project research, develop and test approaches and tools that can be used to assess, strengthen and support regional circular economy innovation ecosystems in non-metropolitan areas and emerging regions in Europe that fall behind the 2050 climate neutrality goal set by the EU.
The goal is to encourage and support the development and implementation of sustainable digital solutions in the circular economy, especially in relation to new technologies, and to ensure that the solutions are used to accelerate the transition to a sustainable circular economy. This includes the improvement of smart specialization strategies, the development of financial instruments and a pilot project to promote the use of sustainable, digitally enabled solutions by SMEs, cities, and citizens in the circular economy.
The countries participating in the project; Sweden, Lithuania, Finland, Bulgaria, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Greece and France, are interested in developing digital solutions for the circular economy. The Päijät-Häme region is represented by LAB University of Applied Sciences and the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme.
The Regional Council of Päijät-Häme will focus on policy design, implementation and monitoring. We will benchmark good practices of the management and use of structural funds in other regions. The role of the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme is also to facilitate the implementation of new projects, and the reform of the management and strategic focus of the policy instruments.
