Päijät-Häme Youth Leadership Program is a project co-funded by European Union and organised by the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme.
Päijät-Häme Youth Leadership Program aims to bring various ways for regional youth to participate in society closer to them through different interactive formal and non-formal learning methods. It aims to provide an environment where participants have the tools to grow as active citizens who value the rule of law, human rights, and democracy. After the program, participants are able to acknowledge the types of measures needed to be taken in order to drive change in a democratic civil society.
Each event brings together specialists and participants. Instead of focusing on theory, we want to encourage discussions among public administrators, politicians, journalists, and other key actors. This year, in addition to our regular in-state sessions and visits, we will be taking a trip to Brussels to get to know the heart of the European Union.
The target group of the program is regional youth in secondary education, as the team is formed of 25 participants from the region. The election process for the 2023-2024 term was held in August.
